  Featured Robert Frost

Northshire Bookstore Review
Reviewed By... Bob Gray

This marvelous little volume is part of the "Everyman's Library Pocket Poets" series. Despite its diminutive size, this is a high quality collection of Frost's poetry, very reasonably priced in this hardcover format. The poems were selected and edited by poet John Hollander, and range from the familiar -- "Mending Wall," "Birches," and "Out, Out---" to less well known works like "Maple." Hollander's brief forward describes Frost's characteristic poetic voice as a form of talk that is "high and yet colloquial." A marvelous gift edition for anyone who loves that voice.

This self contained poem written by a master poet is deftly illustrated in this beautiful volume. Robert Frost is a poet who could and did speak to everyone. Most memorably, in his evocation of the peaceful charm of snow falling in the forest. The illustrator brings the wintry woods to life with richly detailed, subtly colored artwork. Filled with creatures of all sorts to find hidden among the trees. Elegant and able to withstand time this poem will live long in the hearts of its readers.
