*Paying with Checks / Coupons / Gift Certificates -
If you have chosen to pay in one of these manners, you will need to mail the check / coupon / gift certificate to us before we can ship out your order. It should be sent to Northshire Bookstore, P.O. Box 2200, Manchester Center, VT 05255, Attn: Special Order Department, with a printout of your order confirmation form or email. Remember, in the case of a coupon or gift certificate, to include payment of any additional balance (credit card or check, please, no cash!).

Because our inventory listings online are updated once a day, we can not guarantee their accuracy and therefore ask that you wait for an Order Pickup Confirmation email before coming in to pick up your order.

Availability - Displayed as either a number or as "Special Order"
|
Numbers are the in-store stock as of midnight the previous night, and should therefore be used only as a guideline.
"Special Order" refers to books that we do not currently have on-hand in the store, but can be ordered. Many of our suppliers ship books within one to two days, but books that are rarer titles or are from smaller publishers may take more time. For detail on a specific title, please email us at inquiry@northshire.com or phone us at 1-800-437-3700 and we will be happy to give you a more precise estimate.

Binding - The cover of the book. Listed as "Hardcover" or "Paperback".

Condition - The condition of our books is listed in one of three ways - "New", "Used", and "Used" with a description following. This description appears as "Good" or "Fine/Good". The first part is the condition of the book, the second is the condition of the dust jacket. If there in only one descriptor, it refers to the book. Descriptors are as follows: |
As New - To be used only when the book is in the same immaculate condition to which it was published. There can be no defects, no missing pages, no library stamps, etc., and the dust jacket (if it was issued with one) must be perfect, without any tears.
Fine - Approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. For the use of the term Fine, there must also be no defects, etc., and if the jacket has a small tear, or other defect, or looks worn, this should be noted.
Very Good - Describes a book that does show some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Any defects must be noted.
Good - Describes the average used worn book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects must be noted.
Fair - Worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. (which must be noted). Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. All defects must be noted.
Poor - Describes a book that is sufficiently worn that is only merit is as a Reading Copy because it does have the complete text, which must be legible. Any missing maps or plates should still be noted. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.

ISBN - International Standard Book Number - The identification number for a book, it codes country of publication, publisher, and the individual title. Each book has a unique ISBN.

Out of print - A book no longer being printed by the publisher. We offer an Book Search for used and out-of-print titles; if you are interested in initiating a search or want more information, email us at usedbooks@northshire.com.

Publication Canceled - Publisher has canceled the publication of this title.
